The 5 best viewpoints of Barcelona so that you will have different views of the city.
Can you imagine seeing the cosmopolitan city of Catalan modernism from another perspective? There are many places from where you can enjoy Barcelona, surrounded by mountains that give us natural viewpoints that are real wonders. But there are also many buildings with bell towers with spectacular views.
We propose you the 5 best viewpoints of Barcelona so that you will have different views of the city.
Bunkers del Carmel
Watching the sunset from the bunkers of the Carmel is a must, and it’s free. It is located in the upper area of the Turó de la Royira, at 250 metres above sea level, with a lot of history behind it, as there are remains of anti-aircraft batteries from the Spanish Civil War.
From here you will get one of the best views of the Sagrada Familia.
Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi
260 steps up, we find 360º view of the city where you can enjoy the labyrinthine streets of the Gothic Quarter, Raval, Santa Caterina or Born and concentrate your gaze on La Rambla.
The bell tower of the Basilica of Santa María del Pi is one of the best viewpoints to immerse yourself in the city, but to go up you will have to do the guided tour, although we have already told you that is it recommended.
The terraces of the National Art Museum of Catalonia
Also known as MNAC, in addition to having one of the most important collections of Romanesque art in the world, you have two large viewpoints that you can visit for only €2 if you do not want to enter the museum.
Located inside the National Palace, in the mountain of Montjuic, from its viewpoints you have views of la Avenida Reina Cristina, the Montjuic Fountain, la Plaza España, the Collserola Tower, Tibidabo and the second to the Sagrada Familia, the Agbar tower, the Olympic Ring with the Palau Sant Jordi, the Telecommunications Tower, the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys and in the distance the Montjuic Castle.
We also advise you to enjoy the free access views from the areas around the Palace and the Montjuic Fountain.
Castle of Montjüic
Montjüic Castle, located at the top of the mountain, has one of the best views of the city and the coast. Its incredible views are due to the fact that is was formerly a military fortress whose function was to defend the city. It stands out for its bastions and artillery pieces, as well as for its strategic location, 175 metres above the port.
Currently it is a military museum, so you can take advantage of it to visit it and enjoy the temporary exhibitions. We recommend taking the cable car to see the city from a bird’s eye view and go down the mountain to continue admiring the landscape during the descent.
In Parque Güell you will find another one of the best viewpoints in Barcelona. The work of architect Antoni Gaudí is a magical place full of columns with the appearance of trees, animal figures and geometric shapes to get lost in.
It’s from Plaza de la Naturaleza, sitting on its huge bench of snake-shapes mosaics which are 110 meters long, where you get one of the best views of the city, highlighting in the foreground some modernist buildings in the park and in the distance the Barrio de Gràcia and the Sagrada Familia.
These are some of the best viewpoints to enjoy the views of Barcelona.
